A while back Gus Newman from StormCats, a company that builds boats at Lagavulin, sent me some pictures of basking sharks and some time back I found out that Islay has more species of sharks in it's waters.
It's the Tope Shark, or School Shark, and next week StormCats, the same company that builds these great boats, organize the Islay Tope Fishing Festival. It must be really special to try and catch these if you're into angling, must be more spectacular than cathing a brown trout
The Maggie is one of Ealing studios lesser known comedies. A wily old skipper of a Western Isles 'Puffer' and his motley crew lead all who come into contact with them a fine old time! Many scenes on Islay!
