Alway s a joy to be at Laphroaigs. As "friends" we were really treated as such.
Thanks to all of the very friendly Laphroaig people. Laughing Out Loud
PS: Barely any flags. We never bothered to put one up ourselves!

Another mailing from Laphroaig: This time they are organizing a Laphroaig live online whisky tasting. Continue reading if you like to find out what this is all about!

I am really excited to announce something of a first for Laphroaig; we are holding a live, global, online whisky tasting and debate! We hope you will join us in making this one of the biggest online whisky tastings in the world! Therefore, we would like to invite all of our Friends of Laphroaig to come online and take part in this unique event.

We will be holding the event on Wednesday 21st November at 20:00 (GMT). It will last around 40 minutes and will include a live question and answer session where you will be invited to put your questions to the panel. This will include Robert Hicks - master blender, Jim Murray - author of the famous 'Whisky Bible' and of course myself.

The event will cover four highly distinctive Laphroaig expressions; 10 Year Old, 10 Year Old Cask strength, Quarter Cask and our new Oloroso expression the 27 Year Old. You will also have the opportunity to vote live for a fifth expression for the panel to taste.

Once you have registered (see below), you will be able to submit your questions for the event. I'm anticipating that we will get a lot of questions and forty minutes won't be enough to get through them all. We will therefore be asking you to vote on your favourite questions with the winning questions being answered on the night. Don't worry though - even if your question isn't picked you will still have the opportunity to submit your question live during the event itself.

To take part in this unique event go to the web address: www.laphroaig.com/live

I look forward to 'seeing' you on 21st!

Slainthe,

John Campbell
Distillery Manager

Hi Ann, if you send the pictures to me by email I will post them here on the forum. There is an alternative... You can upload them to a site like photobucket.com but they rend to remove the links after some months. You can contact me through the contactform where you can also upload data (max 5MB) Big Grin

Look forward to seeing some of the pics! Smile

(Picture Ann by Laphroaig)

Hi Ann,

I see you have got your certificate to. Who leads the tour by you, was that Jack again? This very nice guy gives us the tour in August this year. You wrote that you were on the Whisk(e)y Fest in NY City. I was on the International Whisky Festifal 2007 in Leiden, the Netherlands the 10th of this month. There they were offering a complete new book: "The Legend of Laphroaig" authors Marcel van Gils (a Dutch dentist and having the biggest collection of different Laphroaig's in the world) and Hans Offringa ( a well known author of whisky books). My book is signed by Robert Hicks, he is the Master Blender and Brand Ambassador for Laphroaig and I am proud to have it. Jack's picture is in the book also on page 133, very nice.
Ann, I am sure that you had a very nice time on Islay and especially by Laphroaig, my favorite, the QC.

Theo

Laphroaig 27 year old is possibly the finest expression of Laphroaig in living memory. It has been matured exclusively in the finest 'first fill' Olorosso sherry butts from Jerez. As befits such an occasion we have produced a special website dedicated to this sublime expression: www.laphroaig.com/friends/27

Many of you will have seen myself, Robert Hicks and Jim Murray (author of the Whisky Bible) tasting this sublime expression at 'Laphroaig Live' online tasting. Those of you who missed it can view it again here: www.laphroaig.com/live/watch.asp

Exclusive to 80 of the Friends of Laphroaig. As you will read on the website there are only 12 barrels of 'the 27'. Once bottled there will be no more. The little '27' there is will be scattered around the World, mainly in specialist stores.

So, I thought it only fair that 'the friends' had the first opportunity to buy it. Now I appreciate that at £500 a bottle it will be out of reach for most of you! But for those of you who would like one we have done something special just for you.

We have hand labeled the very first 80 bottles with an exclusive 'friends' version of the label - this has been personally signed by myself and Robert Hicks (our Master Blender) and numbered. We have also produced a certificate of ownership that has been personally signed by every member of the Laphroaig team up here at the distillery.

If you would like to become one of 'the 80' then you can buy a bottle from the website now. It will be sold on a first come, first served basis.

Slainthe, John Campbell
