Video: Changes at Kilchoman Beach Islay
Winter storms, wave conditions, strong currents and tidal changes are a constant force that shape the beaches and coastline around Islay. Where there's a stream flowing over the beach into the sea today, it can easily be found metres away after a big storm days later. Also sand banks closer to the shore are constantly on the move. This week when we visited the south-side of Kilchoman beach we noticed such a change which had occured within a couple of weeks. Suddenly a sand bank appeared close to where the track to Grannies Rock starts. As I was rather intrigued by the currents and gentle ripples on the water I'd created a nice video. Enjoy!
