As some of you may have noticed, a great number of changes are underway at Islay House. There has been a lot of discussion and rumours abound about what we are up to at Islay House, so we thought it would be a good time to share some of our plans with the readers of

I hope that we won’t disappoint anyone in dispelling some of the more colourful rumours around, but we won’t be turning Islay House into the world’s largest curry house and (unless we haven’t found it yet!) there is no secret bunker on the grounds! What we are doing is turning Islay House into a first class Hotel. For the first time in its history, Islay House will open its doors to the public, welcoming both visitors to the island and local Ileachs alike.

We have begun taking bookings from the beginning of August and have already had a phenomenal response. This year we will have ten rooms available and, although we won’t have our restaurant up and running yet, will also offer a sumptuous breakfast to prepare guests for their day exploring Islay. Our bar, the Peat Cutter, will be open to the public and will of course specialise in local Islay whisky. Continue reading...

Part of the charm of Islay House is its history, and as such we are keeping the house true to its roots by taking a very traditional approach to the renovations, maintaining many of the original features whilst also adding the modern comforts that you would expect of a top flight Hotel.

It has been a busy few months for us already as construction has got underway, we have launched the new Islay House website and we have already had the pleasure of chatting with some of you on our social media pages ( and ).

We are also looking forward to seeing many of you at our first Open Day on the 22nd of May to kick off Feis Ile 2015! We will be having a free entry garden party in partnership with the Scotch Malt Whisky Society who will be providing a couple of complimentary drams for everyone and there will also be some delicious local delicacies on offer! Following a full day in the garden and grounds, we will be hosting a special jazz night, including a dram on us. Tickets for all of our tastings and the jazz evening can be purchased at
