Three New Self Catering Accommodations on Islay
I'd like to point out three new accommodations that were started this year, just in time for the tourist season. The first one (image right) is a beautiful house in Portnahaven with possibly some of the best views on Islay. This former fisherman's cottage offers lovely views over Portnahaven Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. You can probably hear the seals and the sea from the bedrooms, and perhaps even the corncrakes in summer. The house is called "Seall na Mara", which means in gaelic “A view of the sea†or “Behold! The seaâ€, this property certainly lives up to its name. Check out the photo gallery to see more of the views you can enjoy- and the facilities awaiting you indoors. You can find out more about this beautiful holiday home on www.selfcatering-islay-accommodation.co.uk
The second property is situated in the centre of Bowmore, halfway up Main Street and is called Braeside. Braeside is a recently refurbished 2 bedroom end of terrace house and is within easy access to all shops, hotels and local amenities and only a few minutes walk to Bowmore Distillery, the famous Round Church and harbour. The property sleeps up to 4 persons and comprises one double room and one twin room. There is a spacious sitting/dining room, fully equipped kitchen complete with hob, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine and crockery/utensils. There is a shower room on the upstairs of the property and a large garden to the rear of the house. Visit www.braeside.islayinfo.com/ for more information on this lovely house. Continue reading....
For the third accommodation we head for Port Ellen where we find a self catering terraced house called "Gorm Ile". This property is new on the market since 2011 and is very nicely situated near all the attractions the area has to offer such as the three southern distilleries, the numerous beaches, the Oa, Machrie golf course, the Port Ellen playing fields to name a few. This comfortable house has 2 bedrooms - 1 with a double bed and 1 with 2 single beds - and a recently renovated kitchen/dining area. For more information have a look here.
If you're looking for an accommodation on Islay this year and have a hard time finding available weeks, make sure to visit the properties above. They have all three recently started so they will likely have plenty of weeks available. All the three properties above are also listed in the Islay Accommodation Directory and in the Islay Info Accommodation pages
