Scotland Winner Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championship

The Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships held this week on Islay ended yesterday evening with a gala diner, medal ceremony and Ceilidh. Although Phil Dixon from England managed to be the number one individually with Scots on numbers 2 to 5, the overall best team were the Scotland Men. They ended first and picked up the gold medal. England came in second and the Australia Gold team was a good third, just before Canada and South Africa. According to the Ileach the conditions were less than ideal - high winds, heavy showers and periods of bright sunshine made fishing on Lochs Gorm, Finlaggan, Dunlossit and Kinnabus a challenge for the competitors.
