Samhchair - Another new Islay Bed and Breakfast
It's only three days ago that I wrote about five new Islay websites and today another one has been added to the ever growing list. This time a very nice website designed by James McGregor of Islay IT for a new Bed and Breakfast called Samhchair which is Gaelic for "tranquillity". I think the name is well chosen considering it's located opposite Port Ellen at Kilnaughton Bay between Carraig Fhada and Kilnaughton chapel. A very nice sheltered spot with panoramic views to Port Ellen and the Mull of Kintyre.
Samhchair Bed and Breakfast offers one twin and one double bedroom. Each bedroom offers en-suite facilities, satellite television, free wireless internet connection and many other luxuries including a guests' lounge. The Bed and Breakfast is owned by Maggie and Robin Woodman and is built as a tradition Hebridean long house. A quote from their website:
Close to air and ferry ports, Samhchair makes the ideal base for touring the island. Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin distilleries, the championship Machrie Golf Links, the famous Kildalton high cross and the Oa nature reserve and monument are all close at hand. Fishing, walking and cycling (we have two bikes available) are all popular pursuits in the beautiful surrounding countryside. While, if you wish to venture further afield, no destination on the island is more than 45 minutes away. Maggie and Robin will be delighted to welcome you to Islay and ensure that you have a comfortable and relaxing stay.
