Every now and then you find a really excellent Islay video. Today I received an email from Diageo to point out a video in which we can see the insides of Port Ellen Maltings, the place where the barley for the Islay malt whisky is turned into malted barley, used by several distilleries on Islay. Port Ellen Maltings, located on the site of the former Port Ellen Distillery, is rarely open to the public, and even then, many parts are off-limits to visitors. the video below is a ticket to areas that most people have never seen - where the operators themselves can explain how they make the malt that makes some of the worldâ€™s most famous Islay Single Malt Whiskies.
