Old Postcards of Islay and Scotland
I'm fascinated by old postcards, not that I have many and I'm not a collector either, but I love to watch them. Specially the older postcards with scenes from days gone by are my favourite ones. This morning I found one of these old postcards on Flickr, the photo sharing website from Yahoo, from the Sound of Jura ferry docked at Kennacraig. The Sound of Jura, operated by Western Ferries, was the first drive through car ferry in Western Scotland and sailed the Kennacraig to Islay route for several years. A lovely image which belongs to a much larger collection of postcards from the west of Scotland. I had a look at all the 248 photos and was fascinated. The collection is beautiful and includes many postcards from Skye and Kyle of Lochalsh, the Western Isles, Mull and many other islands of the west coast including a couple of old postcards from Port Askaig and Port Ellen. This collection belongs to Neil King, a retired Scotsman who now lives in Portugal.
