The ever growing number of accommodations on Islay is always a nice subject to write about and this time it's no different. In the last weeks I've added four new accommodations to the various Islay accommodation pages, three self catering houses and a new B&B in Bruichladdich.
The latter is called Tigh na Sgeiran which means House by the Reef. This new Bed and Breakfast can be found just outside Bruichladdich and has a newly furbished double, ground floor room and a twin bedded upstairs room combined with beautiful views over Loch Indaal, a distillery within walking distance, a resident seal and a nice conservatory.
Five miles to the north-west, as the crow flies, is a new holiday house on Ballinaby Farm. The bungalow is called An Conusg, that's Gorse in English, the pretty yellow and lovely smelling flowers that can be found in many places on Islay. The bungalow is ideally situated for those who like the beaches. Saligo and Machir are literally around the corner and Sanaigmore is close-by as well. The new website for the McHarries goes under the name of Islay Holiday Cottages meaning that another new cottage will become available in the near future. The cottage sleeps six, has beautiful views over Loch Gorm, has a standing stone nearby and the road around the loch is ideal for cyclists. Continue reading....
If you like stunning views and come to Islay together or on your own, you might want to check out Four winds self catering in Portnahaven. Four winds is a former coastguard station overlooking impressive parts of the Atlantic ocean and the scenic village of Portnahaven with the Rhinns of Islay lighthouse from 1825. This is something you have to see, the owner has done a marvellous job to create a cosy self catering unit with everything you need to relax and unwind making the best of the available space.
