New Islay Accommodations and Websites

Despite the credit crunch the number of holiday rentals are growing on Islay. In fact, I think that tourism on Islay won't be effected very much by the financial troubles. For people from the continent the UK is cheaper than ever due to the pound that plummeted in the last year in relation to the Euro. For people from the UK, the continent is getting more and more expensive so they might decide not to go abroad and spend their holiday closer to home. Good for everyone to know is that Islay has more choice in accommodation than ever before.

I know of more accommodations that will start in 2009 but for now I limit myself to those who have a new website ready and/or are recently started. The first accommodation is Blackpark near Bridgend. Their website is called www.islaycottagesblackpark.co.uk/. This property belongs to Angus and Isabel McLugash. They have a self catering cottage called Gleann an Airidh and the Croft House, which is a comfortably updated traditional farmhouse on Blackpark's working croft. Their new website is designed by Teresa Morris from Islay Wildscapes and holds several interesting pages about the accommodations, a news section, places to visit and a links section. Furthermore the site has beautiful images of Islay and is well worth a visit. Bookings can be made by phone. For contact details and rates check the bookings and rates page. Continue reading....The other accommodation is Lochview House, situated on Shore Street in Bowmore with views over Loch Indaal. This is also a very nice property and very well decorated inside. A quote from their website: "Lochview House offers three double bedrooms (one ensuite shower) and a family bathroom. Upstairs provides panoramic views of Loch Indaal and beyond. From the comfortable lounge, dining area and kitchen, breathtaking views can be enjoyed. A balcony off the lounge and the garden provide ideal places for a wee dram whilst soaking up the magic of Islay. In Bowmore there are stunning views across Loch Indaal to Bruichladdich and the Paps of Jura, Lochview is an idyllic location, directly on the lochside. The accommodation has been designed to take advantage of this spectacular location." Details on how to make a reservation and contact details can be found on the Lochview House homepage. The gallery is well worth having a look, it shows many beautiful pictures of the inside.

The third and last accommodation is not entirely new but worth a mention as well. Unfortunately their website isn't ready yet so I created a listing for them in the accommodation directory. This property is 18 Westend in Port Charlotte and owned by Heather Turner. This is a bright and well equipped house with reasonable rates and stunning views over Loch Indaal.

Much more beautiful Islay accommodations can be found in the Islay Accommodation Directory and are added to the Islay Web Directory.
