I will only post a video today and won't do much other Islay blogging. In a few hours a plane will land at Amsterdam Airport bringing Arra Fletcher and his fiancée Barbara to the Netherlands. I will pick them up at the airport this afternoon and we will spend the weekend together before they leave for a holiday in Europe! It will be good fun and we are really looking forward to seeing them both!

Today's video is the last one in a series of four about life on Islay at the end of the 1940s. Ian Maclean spent a lot of time converting the videos from the original 8mm tapes and I think he did a more than excellent job! When I wrote Ian an email some time ago I found out he will most likely digitise some more film, colour this time, from footage which was shot in the 50s and 60s. Ian is also considering a narrated version so keep an eye out for his excellent videos. As soon as any new videos come avaialble I will post someting on the blog. For now I wish you much pleasure with the last one of the series of the people of Islay in the 40s.
