Islay Seasonwatch Report
Teresa Morris from Islay Wildscapes is on Islay enjoying the festive season there. This morning she sent me the first report with stunning pics from Islay:
At last the days are beginning to lengthen after the Winter Solstice however the recent high pressure weather system has brought very calm conditions with dreary dark misty days. The seas have been fairly calm with exceptionally low tides giving the opportunity for good beach combing. There is currently plenty of kelp and other seaweeds washed up on the shores following the recent storms. Christmas Eve brought a small glimmer of sun at the end of the day setting over Loch Indaal at Bowmore. Boxing Day saw several people walking out on Machir Beach, yet another dull day! Yesterday (Saturday) has at last brought the most stunning of winter days with ice cold easterly winds and a superb clarity of light a great day for walking the hills with views north to the Isle of Mull, ending in a beautiful sunset over Northern Ireland. Heres hoping for this weather to continue into the New Year!
