Islay's Sanaigmore Bay in Winter
A good friend on Islay went out last Sunday and visited Sanaigmore Bay, one of my favourite places on Islay. It's usually very quiet there, the views over the ocean are great, there are plenty of opportunities for great walks and there is enough wildlife about such as seals and occasional golden eagles. And if that's not enough, in the weekends you can enjoy fine art and great coffees at the Outback Gallery run by Petra Pearce.
Although Islay had some snow and the temperatures have been very low lately for Islay standards, Port Ellen had minus 5 degr celsius this morning, there is no snow on the lower parts near the bay. The Paps of Jura however had a good snow cover and act as magnifcent backdrop to the images of Sanaigmore Bay.
