Islay Rally Car Island Hopping

Paul Graham from an Taigh-Osda still enjoys his time off and made a walk this afternoon with his parents, both well in their 80's, all the way up to Killinallan and Ardnave. Quite an achievement! He took some pictures as well which he sent me earlier this evening and can be found at the end of this post. There is some more interesting news to report about the same Paul Graham. There was an article in the Ileach last week which has something to do with racing:

Some of you may have seen a Ford Escort Mk1 Rally car on the island earlier in the year. It belongs to Paul Graham at An Taigh Osda in Bruichladdich. The car has been away for a rebuild to be ready in time for the Mull Forest Stages on Saturday 24th January 2009. This is one of the first events of the Scottish Rally season and will take place on the forest roads of Mull, approximately 46 stage miles. The Mull Car Club expect around 50 entries from around the country with various makes of car: Subaru Impreza’s, Mitsubishi Evo’s, Escort Cosworths all in the 4WD section. And Mk1 and Mk2 escorts, Talbot Sunbeams and Pugueot 205’ in the 2WD section. Continue readingPaul told us 'We have been fortunate enough to attract some sponsorship from Rhinns Electrical, Islay Brewery, and Islay Chocolates. It is our aim to promote as many of Islay’s businesses as possible' - so if you would like to sponsor us you can call 850587 and speak to Paul. He will hopefully be able to publish a report on the event in the following issue of the Ileach. Additionally, Paul would like to canvass interest in starting a Motor Club on Islay and attract members who have classic cars, tractors, lorries, sports cars, kit cars or a general interest in motors of any type. More news on that will follow....
