Islay Lives - Genealogy & Family History

Are you searching for your Islay Ancestors? Elaine Scott has recently launched a new website titled Islay Lives www.islay-lives.co.uk and would be delighted to hear from you and help you discover your Islay roots.

Elaine has Islay Ancestors (McKinnon family from Kynagarry and Bowmore) and has been researching for over 30 years, gathering every scrap of information she can find relating to Islay and her people. She has created a massive database with many tens of thousands of folks - all with an Islay connection - dating from the mid-1700’s through to the 1940’s, and some beyond.

Originally from Edinburgh and after many visits to Islay, Elaine came to live on the Island in 2005 - more than 160 years after her direct ancestor, John McKinnon, left these shores for the mainland. Elaine said: “I am a meticulous and patient researcher - every day I seem to find more details to add to my database, tracking Islay folks all over the world has been almost an obsession - I love every minute of it!”

Elaine does not presently have office premises on Islay - but you can phone: +44 -1496 - 840531 or e-mail: elaine@islay-lives.co.uk or visit her website at www.islay-lives.co.uk. For further information on this subject visit the Islay Genealogy page on Islay Info.
