Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival 2011
The 2011 edition of the Lagavulin Islay Jazz Festival takes place from Friday 16th to Sunday 18th September. The 15 concerts include stellar Swedish vocalist Viktoria Tolstoy, three inspirational pianists Tom Cawley, Jacob Karlzon Trio, Brian Kellock Trio, the world premiere of Tom Bancroft's Red Trio, Mario Caribe's Boteco Trio and his all-star Jazz Crusaders homage, the irresistable brass quartet sound of Brass Jaw, driving blues guitars from Otis Grand and Sandy Tweedale, the beguiling duo of Graeme Stephen and Fraser Fifield, Konrad Wiszniewski leading a trio featuring Brian Kellock and a late night jazz/soul dance fronted by Subie Coleman.
Plus there is Islay Ales, Islay Chocolates, local seafood, afternoon teas, birdwatching walks, drams courtesy of Lagavulin, championship golf courses, spectacular beaches and all the other good stuff the island has to offer.
