Islay Festival Events and Church Services Sunday 24 May

Islay Festival Diary Saturday 23rd May by Susan Campbell: Lagavulin Distillery’s Open Day was a cheerful and busy event held on a rather wet day. Fraser Shaw’s ‘Maverick Angels’ played sets of traditional music with a new ‘take’ throughout the day, and Còisir Ghàidhlig Ìle, Islay’s senior Gaelic choir gave a short concert to an appreciative audience. Islay Visual Arts group opened their Gaelic-themed Islay Bards exhibition with a successful Preview and musical evening at ICCI on Friday 22nd. Today they hosted a Fun Arts Afternoon for the kids, seeing out the first night of the festival was a dance featuring the ‘Last Tram tae Auchenshuggle’ ceilidh band.

Below the events and, due to Sunday, the church services of Sunday 24 May. Weather forecast looks alright, sunny intervals and temps around 17 Celsius. One of the highlights today, besides the ever popular Bruichladdich Open Day, is the opening of the Laphroaig Museum. Check this one out because I think it will be really special!
