Islay Ferry Disruptions and Cancellations
I don't know the exact nature of the technical problems but I do know that several sailings are disrupted and/or cancelled. Due to yesterday's technical problems the 09:45hrs sailing today from Kennacraig - Islay (Port Askaig) has been cancelled. Later on this morning Calmac sent out an email that the 18:00hrs sailing from Islay (Port Askaig) this evening will now depart 2 hours later than scheduled. It will now depart at 20:00hrs and return to Kennacraig where the vessel will berth overnight. Also the following changes to the timetable, again due to technical problems, are in effect for tomorrow, Saturday 19 November:
There will be NO service on Saturday 19 November 2011 from Islay - Colonsay - Oban and return.
Cancelled sailings as follows :
07:00 - Port Askaig / Colonsay / Oban
08:25 - Colonsay / Oban
13:30 - Oban / Colonsay / Port Askaig
16:05 - Colonsay / Port Askaig
18:00 - Port Askaig - Kennacraig
Let's hope that this second or third cancellation doesn't affect the current pilot too much. Since the start of the winter timetable, CalMac is running a return Saturday service to Colonsay and Oban for nine weeks. This pilot will give Colonsay an extra service to the three sailings per week that it currently gets in the winter. This nine week pilot service will run from 29th October till 24th December.
