An Islay Dram and Tablet on Thursdays

If you are travelling to or from Islay on a Thursday afternoon in the next few months you are in for a treat. Already onboard the ferry there are free drams and Islay tablets for everyone. This initiative, which should not be limited to Thursdays or out of season times if you ask me, is organised by Whisky Coast and Calmac. The initiative is called "All aboard for a Taste of Islay & Jura". The Taste of Islay & Jura promotion takes place every Thursday until November 6th, on the 3.30pm crossing to Kennacraig from Port Askaig and back again on the 6pm crossing from Kennacraig to Port Ellen. For those lucky enough, here is a quote for your free dram and Islay tablet:

Taste of Islay & Jura gives passengers the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the world’s most famous single malts, offering complimentary tastings and nosings along with an interesting insight into the whiskies history and heritage. Passengers are able to sample the finest drams that the islands are so famous for and the drivers in any group will be offered a miniature to savour later! There is also the chance to indulge your tastebuds further with a selection of Tablet from An Gleann Cottage Produce whose range of Tablet creations are laced with butter, chocolate and of course, Islay and Jura whisky!

The Taste of Islay & Jura promotion kicked off with Bruichladdich last week, with more to come from Lagavullin, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Ardbeg, Bowmore, Isle of Jura, Kilchoman and Laphroaig over the course of the 9 week promotion. This unique tasting opportunity is free to all passengers who have the added advantage of being able to purchase any of the whiskies and tablet on board from Shop@Calmac, at a 10% discount.
