Islay Boys Football Club in Valencia

Team meets Valencia striker and Spanish international David Villa

On Wednesday 6th May, Islay Boys Football Club took 12 boys for a Development trip to Valencia CF, in Spain. The trip was co-ordinated by a company called Inspire Sport. This company deals with schools and clubs and take groups away to some of the world’s top teams to be coached by their coaching staff and the boys benefited greatly from this experience. The trip involved coaching of skills, football training, playing matches against local youth teams, tours of the Valencia Club Stadium and Training Complex.

The club has set up a blog for the occasion to update the parents of the kids and to show the many beautiful images. Ewan Graham, one of the voluntary coaches of the team, was responsible for several posts and I think he is responsible for the pictures as well. A highlight was the Saturday evenings game, Valencia v Real Madrid. A quote:

What a match!!!! Valencia trounced Real Madrid 3-0!! We had great seats as you will see by photos. The boys had a fab time. The journey back to hotel was passed by kids entertaining passers by from the bus window. The night ended with a chance meeting outside hotel reception with Valencia star striker David Villa! They all got a photo with him, which was amazing!

The team arrived home safely on Monday 11 May. The blog ends, for now, with the last post in which they thanks the many sponsors who made the trip possible. For the full report and many beautiful images check out
