Lucy Dawson of Easter Ellister sent me an article this morning about this year's Ellister Show and she included some great pictures. Lucy: "We just had the final tally in and it was £2750 for Cancer Research UK. We had an impressive turnout on the Saturday 21st and it stayed sunny and dry all day. The kids seemed to have a great day enjoying the coconut shy, kids sports, treasure hunts, bouncy castle, lucky dip and tombola, face painting and the mud hunt where you had the chance of finding one of 2 £50 notes buried in the mud. It was an all day task for some of the kids and eventually Lucy Malcolm from Perthshire bagged one of the top prizes. There are still some £1 coins buried in there unfortunately!
Fastest Raft - HMS MCMS
The highlight of the day was the Raft Race which attracted a big crowd and a total of 6 rafts. Although the Show itself might not be back next year I would like to have a bigger and better Raft Race followed by an open-air Ceilidh. All 6 rafts came from the mainland so next year I’ll be looking for a lot more local entries! Winners of the Best Dressed Raft – judged by Maureen Reynier – was the Wild Fowls and the Perthshire boys – Malcolm and Euan Jack and Steven and Calum McKenzie. The coveted trophy for fastest raft went to the girls on HMS MCMS – Catherine MacTaggart, Tracy Wightman, Kirsty Baxter and Ailsa Hamilton. Although the girls started last due to losing a team member into the water they soon caught up and made a blistering streak for the shore beating the Wild Fowls by a good few metres. Thanks to Bruichladdich Distillery for sponsoring the raft race. Continue Reading....
