Dreamflight over Gigha Islay Jura and Colonsay

Today I want to show you a couple of magnificent youtube videos of the Southern Hebrides. It's a series of three, taken from a helicopter, covering the islands of Gigha, Islay, Jura and Colonsay. The total playing time is a little over 20 minutes and the footage is absolutely stunning!

Part one starts on the isle of Gigha and later on the flight goes to Islay showing wonderful aerial views of Ardbeg, Lagavulin, Dunyveg, Laphroaig, Port Ellen, Kilnaughton Bay, the Oa peninsula and American monument. Then a very low flight over the Big Strand at Laggan bay and views of the low road and river Sorn with it's brown peaty water. Part one ends at Bowmore with nice views of the pier, Bowmore distillery and the round church.

Continue the journey with part two and three.

Part two start at Bowmore and heads to the Rhinns of Islay and Port Charlotte. From there it's Back to Finlaggan and the Sound of Islay. Cracking views of Caol Ila distillery and village and off south to Dunlossit Castle and Port Askaig. From there on to Jura and the Corryvreckan whirlpool.

Part three starts at Loch Tarbert and the beaches on the south-west of Jura then following the road north to Craighouse and on to the Paps of Jura with heavenly views of the cloud covered mountains. Now to Colonsay which was inhabited almost 7000 years ago, evidence came from flint tools found south of Kiloran bay. Colonsay is rich in plantlife, in fact one of the richest islands in Scotland. More views of Colonsay House and gardens and over to Oronsay and the oyster farm where you can see splendid views of the Priory.
