Grahame and Isabelle Allison, owners and managers of Port Charlotte Hotel have been presented with the Good Pub Guide’s prestigious ‘Whisky Pub of the Year 2009’ award. The hotel won the UK-wide award by receiving the most nominations from the public.
Grahame and Isobel have now owned the Port Charlotte for six years having previously lived in Cumbernauld and Stirling where Grahame had a background in haulage logistics and Isobel worked for Scottish Enterprise. Grahame says, 'I wanted a career change, and essentially it’s all been about working well with people; learning their needs and responding with a favourable outcome. Now, I’m making sure that our pub and hotel guests are well looked after. We love Islay, and it was great to be able to come here and grow this business.' Congratulations!!
