Boatpull Team Success on Islay
The Applecross Boatpull Team has once again defied the elements and successfully completed this year's boat pull in Islay. The Boatpull team pushed the mock lifeboat, named chomraich, 50 miles around Islay over three days on 22, 23 and 24 May. Ten members of the team shared the effort with four people pushing the boat at any one time, covering around 18 miles each day.
Alfie Edwards from Applecross Boatpull Team, said: 'We received £1,000 from Scottish Sea Farms which looked after the expenses for the trip and helped us get the event off to a flying start. With our expenses covered we were able to concentrate on raising money for the charities.' The charities set to benefit from this year's event are Islay and Portree Lifeboat Stations, Highland Hospice and CHAS.
