In 2011 a wee sample of Ardbeg Single Malt Whisky was rocketed into space where it orbited our planet for a couple of years. Ardbeg was invited by US based space research company NanoRacks to take part in a maturation experiment between normal gravity on Earth and microgravity in space. Last year around this time the whisky sample came safely back down to earth in Kazachstan. What the results are of this space experiment, and what the differences are between whisky matured in space and on earth, will be explained by Bill Lumsden in a video shot on Islay at Ardbeg Pier.
