Another Very Wild Day on Islay
As the title says, another very wild day on Islay with only a few ferries this morning, the rest being cancelled. At the moment of writing the wind is picking up again and 70Mph gusts are expected tonight. The early ferries for tomorrow are already cancelled. The day started with wind, snow and sleet showers and around nine this morning a few heavier showers arrived with thunder and lightning. We decided to embark on a wee adventure and drove the very slippery Bunnahabhain Road until the end to witness the beautiful spectacle of the heavy hail showers passing over the sound with occasional lightning strikes and heavy thunders. The light was breathtaking over the Sound of Islay looking north-west to Rhuvaal, Jura and Colonsay, the latter not visible. As you can see in the picture below the sea was green and it was quite a dramatic view, even more so with the wreck of the Wyre Majestic in the foreground. If you like wild weather as much as I do than this is the perfect time to visit Islay!
